Mysterious Road in Jeju Island, Korea

Mysterious Road - something you might not seen before:
a road where your car is literally rolling uphill!!!

The mysterious road is about 7km from Jeju International Airport
and was called "Mysterious Road" because when a car in neutral
(
N Gear), will moves uphill instead of downhill (appear to roll
uphill rather than downhill) It was first discovered in 1980 by a
taxi driver who was giving a driving tour to the newlywed couple.

(During our tour to Jeju Island -Mysterious Road, the tour guide
told us
another version of this story. According to her, the taxi
driver park his
car on Neutral -Gear and went to release (pee)
behind the bushes/tree.
To his surprise, when he came back to
discovered his car disappeared >...has rolled uphill :D
)

Today, it is visited by many tourist who want to experience the
unusual natural force. There are also many empty bottles along
the road, try to roll it, the bottle will roll uphill instead of downhill.
Or try running upward the road, you will find it easier than
running downward.

Have a look at the attached you-tube courtesy of other travellers.

Merryn > Nothing like experiencing it yourself. I also can't appreciate much from the You-Tube. But cars, busses, lorry - all can move uphill by itself when on Neutral (Gear Free)
at this Mysterious Road.
Btw, SIL means? I dungu sikit, lol!

Mommy & Daddy, Sarah's Daddy & Mommy > Tks for ur comment. Yes, we went there during CNY 2007. Everland (Theme Park) during CNY also fun, hv cultural performance. They follow the theme of the season like Chrismas, Spring, Autum etc. Shld plan a trip there when H!N1 over & gone... Food... some people like some people don't but we all enjoy it very much. We went to Korea twice..2006 & 2007, just love it, don't mind go again, perhaps autumn, haven't been to autum... :D

This is the first time I have heard about the road. It defies the law of gravity.

I think Newton is turning in his grave!

I looked it up, apparently it's an optical illusion due to the lack of a true horizon and probably the angle of the trees and other roadside objects =)

You r absolutely right... that is what the Korean Photographer who join the tour with us told me! That's why I mentioned in my post " appeared going uphill instead of downhill... 2 thumbs up for you! :D
