 Welcoming this Year of Horse with new possibilities and opportunities. It is a time for reunion and gathering with family, friends and business associates to feast.  Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (TGCR) is promoting its CNY Family Prosperity Dinner Buffet with sumptuous reunion dinner from 30th January till 16th February 2014 (7:30pm - 10:30pm)

 

 

To start off with this prosperity buffet, special Yee Sang will be served free for all diners. This long-held tradition of tossing 'yee sang' features a diverse array of ingredients that are mixed and tossed by all hoping for a bountiful and prosperous 2014 :)

 

You can find an array of mouthwatering 'Chinese Specialty Cuisine' such as Lotus Leaf Fried Rice, Organic Chicken with Dang Gui, Steam Fish with special sauce (see above photo), Deep Fried Prawn with Salad Sauce, Ginger Beef with spring onion and many more specially prepared by famous sous chef - Chef Tan who is very well known among the Club members for his northern style cooking.

Bazaar setting with over more than ten live stalls, sectioned and categorized by eateries such as Gerai Jalan Petaling, Gerai Yin Yang which serves famous roasted chicken and duck rice, Sotong Kangkung (photo above), Fried Kuey Teow, Long Live Noodle. Popiah, Fried Dim Sum & Chicken Lobak (photo above) & BBQ Seafood.

 

One of the many which is not to be missed would be the renowned Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee!

My favorite soup of the evening " Shark Fin with Crab Meat Soup"  :D

TGCR is also very proud to promote the local tropical fruits to end the dinner such as Guava, Red Guava, Jackfruit, Pineapple, Honeydew, Watermelon, Papaya, Dragon Fruit, Mangosteen, Rambutan, Longan, Mangoes and last but not least the essential for CNY - Mandarin Oranges. Diners will also be spoilt for choices with generous spread of pastries such as Nyonya Kuih, Agar-agar, Ang Koo Kuih, Kuih Bakul, Chinese bread butter pudding, CNY cookies, Assorted cut cakes and many more. I personally tried the mini cup cakes, absolutely delicious.
 To me, a must have is the above "crispy, crunchy peanut filled pancake" and their ice-cream potong.

There are ample of free parking (up to 600 parking lots) for guests and 'surau' for prayers. Buggy services are also provided to shuttle members and guests before and after the dinner.

Tips to travelers :-

You may contact or email the hotel (in advance before arrival) for complimentary/free of charge pick up from the airport. They also arrange free shuttle/limousine to the airport for guests checking out. Prior arrangement needed.

The hotel also provides free shuttle to RT Supermarket at 11 am everyday (2 hours advanced reservation needed). From there, you may get taxis, bus, RT Free Bus No. 1 - 11 to other destinations of interest. Nearby the RT Supermarket,
about 15 minutes walk you can reach Hainan Museum. Entrance is free and worth going.
A great way to understand the history of Haikou and Hainan, ethnic cultures and traditions.

Also a great place to shop at RT Supermarket. KFC is located in the RT Supermarket itself and McDonald is just the next block. There are tour agency, banks etc. You may take the RT No. 6  free bus to Wu Gong temple (Wu Gong Tse) - another tourist attraction. Senior citizens 55 years old and above get half price entrance fees.

However, points to consider is that the taxi fares are a bit pricey when you need to come back to the hotel at night as most taxis will charge more as they claimed that they can't get passengers after dropping clients at the hotel. Do bargain for lower fares, they might consider ....lol

They have great set lunch everyday. Here were the sets that my son and I ordered.

For entree, they serve hot bun with butter, followed by soup of the day (we got mushroom soup).

Rib Eye Steak - well done! I enjoyed every bite of it, keep telling myself to reward myself to come
back here on a monthly basis :)

 Fish & Chips, quite a generous portion.

 Ice Cream as desserts (stressed blown away once you indulged in them). We had chocolates & vanilla ice-cream with crispy wafer. Oh... not forgotten, this set luch came with a fabulous choice of drink! Coffee / Tea / Teh Tarik (Hot/Cold)....  Of course, we go for the teh tarik!!!

They serve wines too. Do visit this place if you happens to be in Bangsar Shopping Centre. Happy Dining makes Happy Moments Treasured For a long time :)

Feel like having a Japanese fine dining? There is an interesting place that I discovered recently in Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Australia Wagyu Aburi Yaki, exceptionally delicious!

  My first taste of wagyu beef ...my verdict? Heavenly :)

Dipped in the sauce which enhance the flavour of wagyu beef.

     Tori Karaage, my son's favorite!

     Salmon Teriyaki, an all time favorite and healthy too :)
